Cocoa Butter

Apparently I had too much faith in it. I started using it as soon as I got a BFP and I thought I would luck out and not get stretch marks. My mom has very very few and my sister has none but at 22 weeks they are noticeable on me. I thought I noticed them a few weeks ago and even last week when I went to the OB I asked him and he said those are not stretch marks...they usually come out on both sides and mines are only on my right. Well apparently that is not true.
I woke up this morning and they are freakin stretch marks....Chat Icon

I'm still using cocoa butter 2x a day so hopefully they don't get too much worse. Does anyone have any suggestions for anything stronger than cocoa butter than can help with the stretch marks?

Re: Cocoa Butter

Hate to disappoint you, but I heard that there is no way to prevent them. If you are going to get them, you are going to get them. I even heard that if your mom had them, chances are you will too... if your mom didn't, you probably won't. Go figure!

Re: Cocoa Butter

I just got BFP and told my friend (who had a baby about a yr ago) I was going to get cocoa butter also. She said that she swore by coconut oil and her tummy is flawless. I've seen it, and it's true!

I'm not quite sure where to find coconut oil, but i'll let you know when I ask her.

Re: Cocoa Butter

I've heard the same thing, that creams don't prevent you from getting stretch marks, if your going to get them your going to get them. The creams help with the itching you might feel as your skin stretches. You might want to try some vitamen E capsules and rub that on you, they help with marks.

I have more stretch marks on my right side than on my left..has to do with the way the baby is lying inutero...

Look at my preggo belly on my profile and see what 8 year old stretch marks look like....They do fade over time and become a lot less noticeable..

I personally have never minded them. I felt like I earned them...

They are 100% gentic.. Look it up online.. If your going to get them there is no preventative mesaures.. The cream just keeps your stomach soft and not dry allowing the stretch marks to crack and spread further..

Plastic Surgery NOW has plently of ways to get rid of them

18 weeks no marks.. THANK GOD!
I would be hysterical

Re: Cocoa Butter

I feel your pain. I got one mark around 22 weeks, then started LATHERING myself twice a day with bella momma belly butter and oil at night. Now I am almost 29 weeks and have not gotten another one.

Although it is Genetic, and my mom did get them badly, I am SUUUUURE I will get plenty moreChat Icon , but even if I can stave off one or two, its worth the lather, if nothing else, it makes me feel like I have TRIED, LOL

SO unfair what womens bodies have to go through...we have enough hang ups already.Chat Icon Chat Icon
