COBRA & insurance question
DH just accepted a job that he will start on 6/7. He is currently unemployed and I'm a SAHM. We've been on COBRA for the past few months - my question is, what do we do if he doesn't start his job for another week? I would HATE to pay for a month of COBRA when all we need it for is 1 week. His insurance will start on his first day at the job. I don't believe we can only pay for a week's worth of COBRA. Even though DH doesn't start his job till 6/7 - do you think his insurance is good starting 6/1?

Re: COBRA & insurance question
You need to find out when his insurance starts.
some companies have a 1 month, 3 month, even 6 month waiting period to start insurance.
If his insurance starts 6/7 - when is the deadline to mail in your payment for COBRA? Usually they give you a grace period. You could just hold your payment, say you have a grace period until 6/15. Only mail in payment if you needed the insurance for those 7 days, i.e. you had an emergency. If you don't end up using the coverage then it is fine to go uncovered for 7 days. KWIM.
