co sleeper/ bassinet
I have a 2 year old that we cant get out of our bed. I am considering either a co sleeper or a basinet in order to make room for baby. Which one in your opinion was the better choice???

I could be wrong, but I think I've heard that co-sleepers are not that safe... I think because it's so close to all of the fluffy bedding in your bed

Charmaine... do they even have a bassinet big enough for a 2 year old? Maybe I misread, and you are getting the bassinet for the new baby...
Why don't u just take the opportunity to transition to the crib now?
I use a bassinet for DD and I have to say, I love it. She has her own bed that way so that she gets used to being 'by herself' for when she has to go to her crib, but yet she is still right next to me.

I used a Mini Co-Sleeper and it was brilliant! its now making the rounds through all my friends! I say get a co-sleeper, you can use it for months (my son slept in it until he was six months old) with a Bassinet, thats only good for a few weeks.

I agree.
I only wish that I had gotten the regular one instead of the mini. The regular one drops down so you can use it like a PNP. Makes for less gear. Instead I have a mini co-sleeper AND a PNP (which is only used to hold toys)
Oh, and it in no way touched or came in contact with my bedding. So I really wouldn't worry about that as a concern.

Re: co sleper/ bassinet
I had the regular co-sleeper for DD and LOVED it. As PP said it did not come in contact with any of our bedding and she was right within reach. I did not get it until she was a month or so but at least I will have it from the start when I have #2.

We have a bassinet for our baby and he loves it. It's right next to our bed so it makes the late night feedings so convenient.

Re: co sleper/ bassinet
Thank you ladies, we are in the process of getting DS into his own bed, however we all know how trying that can be. So I have been looking at the co sleeper because we have a pnp from when DS was a baby, So I will use that when we are down stairs. I know that in the beginning I will not want to go down the hall all the time. I will however train this one from early to sleep in his own bed.

Re: co sleper/ bassinet
When #2 was born we also had our 20 month old in our bed. We used the co-sleeper for the baby and got Nate a toddler bed. The cosleeper was great bc we were able to leave the PNP downstairs in the living room. At 3 months we transitioned the baby to the crib, where he still sleeps.
