Clomid Question and Ovulation
Sorry to bother you but was wondering if this happened to anyone?
I was just curious if this happened to anyone else. When I would do the ovulation smile tests I would usually get the smiley face on either day 17 or 18. This month I did my first IUI on Sunday, which was day 14 of my cycle. The dr. said I had three large follies I also got the HCG shot the day before the IUI. Does taking clomid push up your ovulation date? Thanks!

Re: Clomid Question and Ovulation
My OB told me that it would and for me it did, at least a little bit (only by a few days, which when you ovulate around CD 45 was not much help in terms of predictability though I did get pregnant that cycle so maybe I should give clomid more credit). I've definitely seen people on here though who had the opposite effect and ovulated later on clomid. Either way, your doc should've been able to tell/predict with the sono so if you had good follies, I'd trust the doc on this one.

Re: Clomid Question and Ovulation
Clomid is supposed to shorten your cycle. Once you take the HCG shot you should ovulate within 36 hours.

Re: Clomid Question and Ovulation
If I ovulated on my own it was VERY late, like after CD25. When I was on clomid I ovulated on CD17 and earlier. So in my case, yes it made me ovulate earlier.
But as a pp said, I would trust the doctor on this. Good luck!

Re: Clomid Question and Ovulation
Clomid makes your follicles grow faster and the HCG shot is what triggers your ovulation. Your doctor will instruct you to take the HCG shot when your follicles get to a certain size.
ETA I normally ovulated on CD 15-17 and when I went in for my sono CD11 my follicles were right size and I took the shot that night, effectively ovulating on CD 13. Now I'm 18 weeks preggo!

Re: Clomid Question and Ovulation
I answered on the IF board, but yes I think it did shorten the cycle.
