clogged duct again
Welcome to my world. I have a big oversupply and have them all the time. This week I actually had a big episode of pink pumped milk..yes that's right I pumped blood on one side. Went to my OB and even a breast surgeon(specialist) at the rec of my ob. Turns out it's not a clogged duct, it's inflamed tissue.
He actually said massaging and Heat make no diff. It actually hurts to massage it which it does. Its internal. Said the only thing is time and the pump should be my best friend to nurse and then pump to make sure I'm emptying fully. It's def helped.

Re: clogged duct again
I had it too with DS2, but nothing helped! Massaging, warm bath, hand expressing, nothing! It hurt like hell but I deaf didn't wanna take antibiotics. I asked about in my FB breastfeed groups and a couple of moms suggested dangle feeding, well it worked like a charm!!! It's kinda uncomfortable because of the position but it's worth it. U have the baby laying down, looking up. U're gonna feed him while leaning over him, make sure the baby's chin is right under the side of ur boob where u have the clogged duct, u'll start noticing a difference within minutes.
Also I'm not sure if u feed on demand and pump on top of that, but if that's the case be careful cause that can make u have an oversupply and that's one of the reasons why clogged ducts happen.

I had that problem with my second baby, but neither of my other two. Like PP said, be careful not to pump too much (if you are pumping), because that will only exacerbate the problem! Best thing is to just nurse as often as your LO will have it, point baby's nose toward the clog during nursing, massage your breasts before nursing. And catching it early is great, so you can be proactive about getting rid of it before it turns to mastitis. Hang in there, mama!

Like others said, pumping and oversupply can cause them to be more frequent. I never had any major ones with my first but right after I had my second I was pumping a ton, had a big oversupply, and got a bad clog. I made a hot compress with a diaper filled with hot water and pumped until I was sure it was clear. After a day or do to make sure it was gone I stayed to cut down on pumping to let my supply level out. I had never really pumped to empty anyway but I just started limiting the time I pumped even more and cutting out sessions. I would try to figure out how to best match your needs without having a big oversupply.
