Climbing out of the crib

So my DS latest trick is climbing out of the crib when he doesn't want to be in there anymore. He is 21 months and I was hoping to wait a lot longer for him to go into a bed. Any suggestions on getting him to stop. He does it so quietly too. I am just nervous that he will get hurt.

Re: Climbing out of the crib

I know they sell mesh tent to go on the top of cribs or a crib extender

Re: Climbing out of the crib

Any other thoughts. I have put him in his crib 5 times already tonight and he keeps climbing out. He used to go to bed at 7:30 on the dot without any problems.

Re: Climbing out of the crib

Im pretty sure the onlt thing they make is what the PP suggestied - Ive seen that in many posts on here before....a mesh tent that is put on top of the crib to keep them in there. I think its that or toddler bed time!

Re: Climbing out of the crib

We recently went through the same thing with our son. Unfortunately we have a sleigh style crib and the crib tent won't work for us Chat Icon

We started bringing him into our room at night when he figured out how to open the door - crazy stuff at this age!

We finally gave in and ordered him a twin bed and we are waiting for that to arrive... He has stopped climbing out as often - i guess the thrill has worn off.

If the crib tent works for you I heard it can be good for at least another 6 months of crib time...

GL to you!!

Re: Climbing out of the crib

When my kids did it, I just switched to a regular bed. Both my older kids were in beds by 21-22 months. Just make sure you super duper baby proof the room and get a gate for the doorway at night so he can't roam. I'm not ready for this with #3! He's a climber just like his brother & sister so I think the time might be coming soon for his first climb out too.

Re: Climbing out of the crib

My son was 19 mos when he started to climb out of his crib and when I asked my ped what I could do he suggested the tent to go over the crib. However I can't tell you how it works because I felt bad using it so I bought a toddler bed and gate so he couldn't get out of his rm. Also kept the monitor in it so I would hear him if he woke.
