Cleaning Ladies question - is it awkward?
I am contemplating getting one. I felt guilty about it, but then I figured, f*ck it. I need help around the house.
Is it weird though having someone come in and see your mess and clean it? I'd feel I'd have to clean up BEFORE she even got here, KWIM? I'm the same way when I go to get my car washed..
Is it something you kind of "get over" ? or is it always weird?

You get over it REAL quick.
I don't 'clean' before they come, but I do organize my ish. I get rid of the junk mail that has been sitting there, I clean up the recycling bucket. That kind of stuff.
I'm in the process of finding a new person or company. I don't enjoy showing my place to random people that probably own the company and have mansions.  That part stinks.

I always hated when my mom told me to clean up/get ready for the cleaning lady... and now I do it in my own home! My theory is that is forces you to put stuff away, so someone can actually really clean... it's a win win.

I pick up the night before.
My DH  at me when I do this. But my thought process is that she is there to CLEAN, not pick up our mess. She is not our maid, KWIM?
Like if I have crap all over my dresser in the bedroom, I put it away. I pick up clothes my DH might leave on the floor next to his side of the bed.
If there are dishes in the sink (which there never are though, just using it as an example), I put them in the dishwasher, or wash them.

The first time was really awkward because she wanted me to be there and I felt so weird sitting on my couch on my laptop while she was on her hands and knees cleaning my house. I've never been there since the first time so it's not weird anymore. I do put things away before she comes. It'll be harder for her to dust and vacuum if I leave my stuff all over the place.

I always clean before they come. I agree that it's motivating to organize and got through closets, laundry, etc. I have them clean every other week and it's amazing how much i have to clean/straighten up before they get here.

Me too! My cleaning lady has also told me we're some of the cleanest people she cleans for so I guess we're doing something right. If she only knew...
