Cleaning ears

My vet told me to do it 2-3x's a WEEK! Is this the norm? I don't do it that often and her ears are always fine!

We clean as often as we need to so that the buildup is not too much. Right now, that's once a week. During the summer when it's humid, maybe more frequently.

The vet told us NOT to clean too often (she said once every 2 weeks) so we don't clean the beneficial bacteria out of his ears. I tried that, but he started scratching them. So I chose to disobey and he's been fine with once a week.

Is your pup prone to ear infections or ear mites? Is there any medical reason why they would want them cleaned more frequently than normal?

Nope, she's not prone to mites. Maybe he meant that when she was a puppy that she needed that? She's one now...I do it every other week when I give her a bath!
