City Select Vs Uppa Baby Vista

What are your thoughts/experiences on these strollers?

Pros/Cons. I am not sure which one I want. The City Select is a little less expensive and I am not sure if anyone would buy such an expensive item off the registry?

Re: City Select Vs Uppa Baby Vista

I've never seen the city select, but I have the uppa baby vista.

For now its been worth every discounted penny my sister bought it for. She got the older model for about 150 less.

I love:
The bassinet, DS was so content and so happy in there, I went everywhere with him sleeping like a dream in it for the first 3 months.
The sunshade on the toddler stroller. My baby fusses in the sunlight, this is a life saver.
The maneuverability and big wheels, It drives like a SUV with great suspension.
It fold pretty easy, when its in the front facing configuration.
The two configurations (front facing and back facing)
The huge basket
The 3 recline positions
It feels very light when you drive it
Its a little higher than other strollers, I feel like DS gets a good view.
There is a bar in the middle that he can hold onto, with a removable washable cover, in case DS decided to chew on it.
So far I really love it.

I don't like (petty complaints):
The bassinet is only 28", DS was 28" at 3m. He was all slouchy in the toddler seat, I had all kinds of contraptions to pad it up.
It takes 2 hands to fold, but I don't have to take it apart.
It doesn't seem very stable if I hang, a heavy diaper bag from the handle.

I hate:
It doesn't recline flat, is probably my one serious and realistic complaint. I don't know if the new model does. But this aspect would have made my life loads easier. (especially in the 3m to 6m phase before DS sat up really well) (and especially for diaper changes, I got used to doing diaper changes in the bassinet)

eta: I don't know if this is a complaint or a good thing, but I'm often tripping when I drive the stroller, because it goes over rocks and twigs without a bump and I don't know they are below my feet. That's how good it drives.

eta#2: I don't know, it's bulky, but I don't think its that heavy. I lug it in and out of our trunk all the time. The biggest wheels are the biggest pain when storing it, but then again I love the big wheels when driving.

Sorry I keep calling it driving, I don't know what to call it when your are walking with a stroller Chat Icon

Re: City Select Vs Uppa Baby Vista

I have the City Select and I love it. Here's a bit of advice that I never got though. If you live in the city, then disregard this but if you plan to take a stroller in and out of a car, then those 2 strollers are WAY too heavy. I remember wanting the expensive, big, heavy, do-everything strollers when I registered, but now I ONLY use my Maclaren for errands, mall, park, etc. I use the City Select for walking/exercising because the tires are great on the sidewalks and pavement. I keep it unfolded in my garage at all times. Lugging these in and out of a car will get old VERY fast. I'm not saying not to get one, but if you're only getting one stroller, go lighter.
Another piece of advice that I never listened to which I wish I did (and my DD was born in Jan too) was to use the Snap and Go for 4-5 months and THEN choose a stroller. You won't use it before then and it will give you time to figure out what you like/need. I am really impulsive, so I never did that and I wish I had. I probably would never have gotten the City Select or any other big stroller at all. $500 that I wish I had for other things...HTH

Re: City Select Vs Uppa Baby Vista

I have the City Select and LOVE it!!! For most of the first 3 months I kept it unfolded in my shed and used the bassinet for walks. Any time I went to a party or someone's house over the summer I brought it, and also for big shopping trips (mainly Trader Joe's because shopping cart can't hold his infant carseat). It was on backorder when DS was born so I was forced to go out and get the snap n go to use for the first 3 weeks, even though I bought the carseat attachment (which is the same price as the snap n go). Our plan is the have 3 kids pretty close in age, so this is why I got the stroller in the first place. If you plan on another DC while this one is in the stroller, I think the City Select is much better than the Uppa Baby Vista. There's a lot more room for 2 rumble seats for both kids to be comfortable, and both seats can be reclined at the same time.

The downside is that it is heavy. I have no problem taking it in and out of the car, I figure that's my upper body workout for the day! Chat Icon
In all seriousness, the fold is incredibly easy and it's just the weight that turns people off I think. I am incredibly happy with it and glad I spent the money.

Re: City Select Vs Uppa Baby Vista

This is what I posted back in Jan when I went to BBB to look at both strollers:

Okay ladies, I just got back from checking out this stroller at BBB. I am now a pro at this thing! I'm PG with my first but we're planning on a second DC soon after DS is born, which is why I'm so intent on getting this stroller.

Here's what I learned:
-you cannot close stroller with 2 seats attached, but it literally takes 2 seconds for rumble seat to come off
-seats can be facing each other, both facing forward, both facing you, or back to back.
-both seats can be reclined all the way if they're facing you. You gain the most room between the 2 seats with them facing you
-folds very flat with 1 seat facing out, not as flat if 1 seat is facing you - VERY easy to fold!
-both seats have 45lb capacity, versus Uppa Baby Vista (50lbs for main seat, 33lbs for rumble)
-has telescoping handle
-basket is HUGE, but not quite as accessible as Vista
-when both seats are facing forward, the child in the back can see out, as opposed to looking at the back of the seat in front of them like the Vista
-it is 5 pounds heavier than the Vista

IMO, this is a MUCH better configuration for parents of 2 kids. The Uppa Baby Vista has very little room between the 2 seats, and 2 seats can only be used in the forward facing position with no recline on either.

Re: City Select Vs Uppa Baby Vista

We got UPPA Baby Vista, but another line to check out is the iCandy strollers. They have a lighter version called the iCandy Cherry that is a little bit lighter than UPPA Baby. Only downside is have to take seat out of frame to fold the stroller. After a lot of back and forth, we ended up getting the UPPA.

Re: City Select Vs Uppa Baby Vista

Hands down Uppa Baby. I have it. . The bassinet option to great. I use it in my house and push my newborn around when I'm doing housework. It's nice for him to be in the bassinet for walks and not have to be squished in a carseat. The carseat adapter is great - so much easier and sturdy then the city's. I haven't tried the seat part yet, but it looks more comfortable than the citys. Are you going to use it as a double too? The rumble seat attachment on the Uppa baby doesn't look too comfy for everyday use as a double...
