Circumcision

My son did not circumcised at the hospital. So we decided to schedule him this month. The Pedia said no one will do it until 6 months. ??
I dont want to wait that long. Do you know any urologist who can do it at one month old baby?

A pediatric urologist will do it. We were team green, so DH and I contacted several doctors before I delivered. Everyone with whom we spoke indicated a preference of performing the procedure within the first weeks, certainly not at 6 months.

My son is one mnth old now.. I dont want him to feel the pain when i waited for 6 months thats why i want to do it now. I will try to contact some urologist. I dont understand why his pedia doesnt want to do it until 6 months.

I HATE to post this but we were instructed to do at hospital for this reason...you have to waituntil 6 months. At this time it's alot more painful because babies are more aware. Iwould try to find someone to do ASAP

My DS was circumcised at the hospital, but he was a preemie. They waited to do his until he was being released from the NICU at around 2 months. Then we discovered that the doctor did not take enough of the foreskin off. We took him to a pediatric urologist who said he was swollen and to wait to see if it corrected its self. It did not and we just had it corrected by the ped urologist in February when we was 11 months old. By waiting until then to correct it DS had to be put under anesthesia. He did great and was not in any visible pain. They gave him pain meds but he was better with just plain tylenol. They may want to wait until 6 months because I think once you hit a certain age they have to put him under and would rather wait until he's older. Try calling a pediatric urologist. They can answer your questions about why you have to wait or possible they may be able to do ti now

All urologist I spoke to will not do it until after 6 months because they have to be put out. Unless it is an emergency they will not do it.

We did DS at 11 months. Honestly it was no big deal and he was in zero pain. Coming out of the anesthesia was the only bad part and he was only cranky for a few hrs.

Thanks for the replies. I regret not doing it in the hospital when he was born. I was really undecided and hubby doesnt want to decide for himself. GRRR i hope i can find pedia urologist ASAP

I would agree with contacting a pediatric urologist. I would also suggest contacting a moyel - someone who performs a bris. Often they are pediatricians or pediatric urologists.
