CIO...what to do when she is sick?
I let Sidney CIO when I first put her to bed at night a while back but a few days ago we started to do it for the middle of the night feeding which reared its ugly head again. She was doing great BUT...she cried out last night and I went in after 5 mins and rubbed her back. then again after say 8 mins and she fell asleep. She woke up this morning with yellow boogies (sorry) and a wet cough. It makes me feel so bad that she was probably uncomfortable last night cause she was getting sick. Now what do I do tonight??? Nothing but the boob calms her down so if I don't want her to cry cause she is sick I have to feed her. Unless anyone has any other suggestions???
TIA

Honestly, when she is sick...ALL bets are off. I go to her at first peep and have slept in the guest bedroom with her because it was the only way she would sleep...if she wants to eat, I feed her, if not the I just try again later even if it's off schedule.
After she gets better, I implement the rules again
I am sorry Sidney isn't feeling well. Bella has a cold too, I guess this weather doesn't help...
Hope she gets better soon!

I agree- it's different when they are sick.

Thanks....I will give her whatever she wants till she's better. Then start all over again
I think that is the hardest part of CIO...you're never really done with it.
It doesn't help that this is Sidney's 6th cold so far (she's 10 months old) so there is never any consistency around here

How does this differ from other approaches? Isn't everyones routine thrown by sickness?

I figured all would go out the window while she was sick but was wondering if i should try feeding as a last resort -like try rocking singing etc. first. Anything to not set us back to square 1 again.
But I find CIO to be very effective yet sooooooo hard. So any time our routine is thrown and I have to go back to CIO it just breaks my heart.
ETA....she actually slept great last night despite her cold. She only woke up 1x 20 mins after I put her down. I went back in and nursed her again but put her back in the crib awake. She didn't say boo....just rolled over and went to sleep. Then woke at 5am. (so about 7:30pm to 5am)
