cio experts-teething question
So how do you handle cio & teething? I won't make her cio if she is cutting a tooth, or just about to. She is just about to get her first, so we did a little modified cio last night. I plan to resume hard core as soon as this tooth pops. How do you find a balance? Teething seems to take forever! I also feel like once this first one pop out, the next will be right behind it. It is so hard trying to figure out when they are having teething pain, and when they are not. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Re: cio experts-teething question
DS was different with his teeth. Around 10 months when a lot of his bottom teeth were coming in it was a nightmare. I tried tylenol, rocking, etc.
Finally after weeks of no sleep the Ped checked him out and she said they finally cut through, but now he's been used to us holding him every night. Then when he wakes up and we're gone he cries so we come back. He was training us... LOL! Just did the CIO when they cut and I knew he was ok. Took a few days and it worked
When he was getting his molars and I teeth he wasn't too bad at night. Just getting sick all the time with an ear infection.

Re: cio experts-teething question
i dont know. there isnt much you can do except motrin and prop the mattress a little. otherwise, i follow CIO. i make sure i've done everything within my power to make him comfortable before going down. if he wakes before I can give him more motrin, ill let him CIO.
if he wakes and its been long enough that he can have another dose, ill give him the motrin and his paci and lovey and then its back to CIO.
seems to be working. he is cutting top teeth now.

Thank you very much. I was worried but plan to do this unless she seems different kwim? Otherwise I feel like we will be all messed up. If she seems out of sorts I wont.

Re: cio experts-teething question
when they were teething i just used the teething drops which helped them. made sure i gave it to them right before bed. my boys somehow never got fevers while teething, but if they did i would be giving them the tylenol. sometimes they would wake up during the night but i think i was lucky and didnt take them long to go back to sleep. so i continued the CIO if it lasted longer than 15 i would just get them knowing they were in pain .

Re: cio experts-teething question
We never did CIO when DD was teething. She usually ended up in bed with us because we felt bad. Then we woudl go through CIO from square 1 over again.
