CIO Experts - HELP
Ok so with dd#1 she slept through the night by 3 weeks old on her own!! It was amazing!! With dd#2 (now almost 5 months and not sleeping through the night yet) I am/was very hesitant to let her cio in fear that it was not only interupting me and dh but more imporantly the us dd#1 night of sleep. However the past few days dd#2 has been waking every 4 hours to nurse. Last night she woke at 12:30a and I nursed her but then at 5a she woke up again (second day in row). At this point i thought to myself not a good habit to get into if i nurse her now. I mean she can't be starving right?!? So I let her CIO. She cried from 5:17-6:25a. UGH it was awful!! But I did it and when dd#1 woke up she said that she didn't even hear dd#2 crying...which makes me feel like I can continue with this process!!
However here is my question: If she wakes up at 12:30a do I feed her and let her cio if she wakes a second time and then gradually after she stops waking during the later time start the process over again to get her to STTN?/
Thank you in advance for helping!!!
Marissa

Re: CIO Experts - HELP
what time is she going to sleep for the night?
what time does she wake up for the day?
if she's not even 5 months, it's normal for her to not be STTN yet... we did CIO but waited until after 6 months because that is what we felt was right for our family.

Re: CIO Experts - HELP
She usually is sleeping by 9p and wakes up by 7:30a however there is no consistance with her. THere are some nights that she is STTN and then others like lastnight. 2 wake up is really rare and "new". But there is typically one. As I was lying there listening to her I was thinking am I doing this too young?? And I'm already in it?? Any ideas, suggestions would be appreciated!!!

9-7:30 is AWESOME!
Is she teething right now?
Loey started to STTN when we did CIO at 6 months. He had 2 short periods where he'd wake 1-2x during the night and once was when he was sick, the other was when he was teething. I let him wake up and cry for a minute, then would feed him in my bed and then bring him back to his crib. He always fell right back asleep.
People do CIO at different ages, so I don't feel comfortable saying whether or not she is too young. It's about what you are comfortable with. We weren't comfortable doing CIO until Loey was 6 months but that is just us....
When she wakes up the 1 normal time... does she eat the full amount? What about the second time?

Re: CIO Experts - HELP
My ped and most other peds recommend starting CIO at 6 months or older.

Thank you for your support!!! The 9-7:30 is will a wake up anywhere from 1:30-4:00a. I would LOVE 9-7:30a!!! My ped asked if she was still waking up at her 3 month check up and i told him hes to eat...he said stop feeding her and she will stop waking up. That is way to extreme for me. When she eats at night she more then less eats alot. Lately she is looking to chit chat. Second time no she doesn't eat as much lookin more to converse. That is why I was ok rocking her for a bit last night and putting her in awake which turned into her crying.
