He would roll over put his thumb in his mouth and i would walk away without hearing a peep from him. Welllll NOW he learned how to stand up and everytime i put him in the crib he stands... and criesChat Icon soooo my question is... what is this CIO you are all always talking about!

Re: CIO?

I believe the mommies are referring to Cry It Out.

Re: CIO?

I wouldn't necessarily go the CIO route for what you are describing. Sounds to me like he has learned and new skill and is confused. He may simply not know how to get down once he stands and/or be too excited to sit.

CIO is appropriate as a method to help children who don't know how to self-soothe to sleep -- considering how well your son slept for 9 months, sounds like he already knows that, and its just the standing thats thrown him off.

I couldn't have said it better. He just learned how to stand up on his own, but he hasn't figured out how to get down. It will take a few days, but will get better. Chat Icon

Re: CIO?

I agree - hang in there - it will get better. For now maybe go in there - lay him down and rub his back for a second then leave. That should do the trick.
