Ciao Baby

After realizing my groupon for Ciao Baby was about to expire DH and I went to Ciao Baby for dinner last night (for the first time).

I had always seem to hear good things about it, but I honestly was not impressed. The tables are so close together!! As soon as we sat down I knew I wouldn't be happy unless we moved. The woman next to us was a LOUD talker. Luckily, I asked the waiter if we could move to the corner table and he had no problem with that.

We got the rice ball appetizer which was really good (and the leftovers were my dinner tonight).
The entree wasn't too good though. The macaroni was undercooked (not even al dente- but actually undercooked). The sauce was very thin. It just did not live up to our expectations.
On a positive note- the service was great.

I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience? In any case, I don't think we'll be going back and I don't think I'll be recommending them to anyone.

We were there once and we are not fans at all. It was way too loud in there and the food was nothing special.

Agree. Once you get over the novelty of 55 gallon drums of pasta and basketball sized meatballs it's not that good.

Made me realize quality over quantity should be most important.

Re: Ciao Baby

I agree with you, we have been 2 or 3 times, once for dinner and the other times for dinner parties. I think they give you a lot of food but it is not that special.

Way to loud in there. I am young and the sound level was just going right through me. My father would have walked out if he went there.

Re: Ciao Baby

They're good but not great. I do like their pasta dishes and it's a fun place to go to with a group

Re: Ciao Baby

We used to go fairly regularly when DH and I were dating and always loved the food. We went to the Commack location recently (like you with a groupin) and it was bad. I guess it's gone downhill.
