Chrysler Town & Country

Thinking of buying a used one (2012). When I was looking at it, it seemed like the 3rd row was "reclined" sort of 45 degrees. I'm worried about being able to put DD's booster seat back there if it's not upright. The salesperson said that's how it is...not adjustable.

Anybody know if this is how it is, or if it is adjustable somehow? And if always like this, has there been an issue putting a booster seat or child in the seat? DD is 9, but I still have her in a booster.

Or am I just imagining this?

We have the new on so I don't know if it's that much different but in ours the third row is a regular third row seat. We fit 2 adults and a child sometimes back there. I can also fit my stroller, pack and play and other items in the trunk with the third row in use. I never thought I would be a mini van mom and I absolutely love it!

I have the 2011 so I'm not sure how different it is ii at all from the 2012 but we have my 4.5 year old DD back there in her car seat with no issues and I've had my 10 year old niece back there with her with no problems. I LOVE my town and country, DH wants me to look at the Hondas when my T&C is paid off and I am set on getting a newer T&C because I love mine so much.

Re: Chrysler Town & Country

This diagram shows where the tether points and latches are located in the T&C. It says 2013 but it also applies to earlier and later models (2007-2015 I believe).

This is the issue with the 3rd row. You can see that the outboard seat's seatbelt is positioned in front of the seat. The belt doesn't touch the body at the shoulder at all. Sometimes it doesn't touch the body. And because of the angle, sometimes it's going down the arm.

Why they put the seatbelts there is beyond me.

The T&C and caravan are horrible for belt geometry but most people have no idea. Its so dangerous. I have no idea how they're allowed to produce a vehicle like that

I had no idea! Maybe I will look at the odyssey when my T&C is paid off. Thanks for the info.

We were about to get the T&C because it is affordable and seems like everyone has it but as we researched(including the third row saftey issue) we weren't comfortable getting it. We saved up for a couple months longer and got the Odyssey instead.

It's concerning that it probably just barely passes safety inspections because of the seat belts. How can a seatbelt that barely touches a person be safe?

I read once (and I'll be damned if I can remember where) that the test is they use are for the maximum limits for the seat belt and since they fit there properly it can pass.
