Christmas morning time dilemma......

Yes I know its JulyChat Icon
Yes I've got way bigger issues than this.... but I'm trying to distract myself from the large disappointing ones(like having to cut off my family cause my blood pressure can't handle it).....Chat Icon

What we did do......
1.Christmas Eve we host my IL's, BIL, and dh's BFF & gf.

2.Christmas Morning ds would open gifts, then before ds was finished playing with his giftsChat Icon , we'd have to rush over to IL's who had a crazy amount of gifts & for breakfast.... IL's, BIL, dh's grandparents & dh's aunt uncle were there....

3. Christmas Dinner - dh's same grandparents would cook, same IL"s, BIL, Dh's aunt uncle and dh's cousins family was there.

This year Ds will be almost 4, and we'll have a 2 month old dd.... MIL brought up how this year she might skip dh's grandparents and aunt uncle at her house and I was luckily able to bring up how we were thinking of having it and dh's grandparents and aunt uncle could then go out to dh's cousins house... It seems kinda silly to me that inlaws don't just bring the gifts over Christmas Eve at our house when we are already seeing them Christmas day for dinner too. Chat Icon But I know it would be tough to completely take something away they expect..... So if we plan on ds opening gifts from Santa first before they come( I want some alone time, plus I want ds to know what was Santa, cause last year IL's tried to put Santa on alot of their gifts at their house).....HOW LATE CAN I INVITE THEM?? DO I HAVE TO SERVE BREAKFAST IF I SAY 11AM????

Also BIL is still single and gets tons of gifts from them, does he go to their house to open gifts then they all come over???? I have no clue how this works......

Re: Christmas morning time dilemma......

We had a similar arrangement with my IL's a few years ago.
Once I had baby #2 I told them I wasn't rushing out on Christmas morning anymore.
Time to start a new tradition... opening gifts on Christmas eve.
They were a little taken aback at first but after the first year doing it this way they are fine with it.
Honestly it works out better with breakig up the gifts. We open the gifts 1/2 way through Christmas eve and let them play with them for awhile before going home. Then Christmas morning the next batch of presents from Santa, and DH and I.

If you are set on having them over Christmas morning, I would just have bagels and fruit, or bagels and muffins out and call it a day.
