Christening vs 1st Bday

We are not having a party for DD's Baptism so I want to have a large 1st bday.

When I was discussing it with DH (who originally wanted to have a HUGE Christening party) he said that he doesn't think that many people would come.

We had made a list for the Christening when we thought we were going to have a party- 125 ppl. I figured we'd invite the same people to the birthday and book the firehouse. He doesn't think enough people would come and we should just do it at the house (we have a fairly small house and her bday is 3/26)

So, my question- is DH right? I always thought a 1st birthday is a big event....just as big as a christening can be....

Re: Christening vs 1st Bday

We opted for the big christening...We may do a back yard party for DS's first b-day (4/23), depending on when the warmer weather starts and if we extend our patio. Otherwise, we will just do something with our immediate family. I personally prefer to do a big christening, although they will not remember either...

We didn't christen our DS, so we are doing a huge 1st birthday. We're expecting 90+ guests - it would've been more, but I had to limit the guest list so that his 1st birthday wasn't bigger than our wedding. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
We're having it at a firehouse and having all the bells and whistles as if it was a christening.... Yes, everyone you invite will come if they're free.

we had the same guestlist for the christening and 1st bday - far more people came to the christening.

Our daughters christening is about a month before her first day. We are having a big christening for her at a catering hall. For her 1st bday we are going to have a party for her at our home with family and close friends.
