DS is 26 months and in need of a good winter coat. Would you recommend this one? (i heard it's stiff and hard to move around in and DS is a squirmy all over the place toddler) what are the pros and cons? Any other recommendations?

DS is 18 months and we have this one for him. So far he seems fine in it.

See if the Lands End Squall Parka would fit him. They are the.best.coats!!!!!!!!!! Not puffy so they don't interfere with carseat straps. So warm (I have one too). Check the overstocks page for better prices and combine with a sale. I won't even look elsewhere for a coat now.

I have a very active 4 year old and this has been his coat for the last two years. I also got one for my 19 month old DD. I've never noticed them being hard to move in.
