Children's allergy meds
Its the season and I can see DS starting to get stuffy at night. I think we used Childrens 12 hour Allegra last year or maybe it was 24 bc I only gave it to him once a day. I can't remember.
He's almost 4 now.
What allergy meds worked best for your LO for seasonal allergies?
I feel like it take a few days to notice a difference.
Anyone?

We like Children's Claritin for my 5 year old. He has been using it as needed for the past two years. It is the 24 hour one. We give it to him at night right before bed. Yes, it does take a few days to take effect.
I think it works well. No side effects that I notice.

Children's allergy meds
We use the 24 hours children's zyrtec (generic brand). We used to use the 12-hour allegra, but it was turning my son into a beast that I did not recognize. His personality completely changed the second spring that we tried it on him. We switched to the zyrtec and never looked back.

Same on all counts, except DD is 17 months. We started it last week (Monday or Tuesday I think) and noticed a significant difference by Saturday.

I honestly don't know if it is a common side effect. We gave it to him the whole spring after he was 2 and he was fine. The following spring when he was 3 we started it up again and he just turned into a crazy person. Also started waking up hysterical in the middle of the night with night terrors of sorts. We stopped the allegra and it was a noticeable difference right away. He was back to his usual self. We switched to zyrtec and have never had a problem.

Now I remember DS doing something similiar last year, but I don't think it was around the time he was on Allegra. I think it was when his 2yr molars were coming in, but it does scare me if it is a side effect bc I read one review someone said something similiar. Maybe I will switch him to the Zyrtec.

DS has been on Childrens Claritin for 2 years. It is the 24 hour one, but I split it in to 2 doses a day. Sometimes he only gets it at night or if I know we are going to have a bad allergy day. I tried Zyrtec last year and he was off the walls... If I cut the dose way down, he was ok. It works really good for his bad days.

My DS's allergy dr said that she recommended Zyrtec....it works the best! We had him on Claritin but she said that is the weaker of the two...we had no issues and no allergy attacks when we switched!

This daily walmart brand. She gets half a tsp in the morning. She its supposed to get another half at night. I generally hold off and give dye free benedyrl add I think it dries her up better.
Been using needs since 24m potter the doctor.
She'll be 5 in august

Claritin is the least effective. Allegra is more effective than claritin. Zyrtec is supposed to be the best according to my DD's allergist.
Claritin doesn't do anything for my girls. We use allergra. I won't touch zyrtec. Too many people I know had bad side effects. It made my daughter hyper, crazy one minute, the weepy, crying depressed the next. I won't even try zyrtec with my younger one. I know others who have issues with zyrtec, as well.
I think all of them can have side effects. It is important to try them all to.see which one works best for your child.
