child proofing stairs
How did you child proof the bottom of the staircase if you have a center hall colonial house? Our stairs have a curved banister with cylinder like posts that curl around the center post at the bottom.

Don't know if it is the same scenario, but we have a split that has a bottom step that comes out of the actual stair case at both stair cases. DH found gates that had add on attatchments to screw on to the wall. I believe they are by summer.

i have a center hall colonial as well and was wondering the same thing. you have no wall to secure the gate to right? my staircase is dead in the center of the house, banisters on each side, no wall though. i have no clue what to do

they sell an attachment for adapting a gate to banisters, BUT it didn't fit on mine, so I don't know if it'll work for you.
What we just did was get an inexpensive wood one and tied it to 1 side and it rested across to the other. It prevented her from going up the stairs.
