Chicken pox vaccine
Did your lo get a chicken pox vaccine? If they did when did they get it? I'm asking because there is so much conversation about the mmr vaccine but I haven't really heard much about chicken pox.

Re: Chicken pox vaccine
DS1 got it at 15 months and DS2 got it at 12 months. No reaction or issues with either one. Also, when they got it they took it with other vaccines as well and they were fine.

Re: Chicken pox vaccine
Yes she got it at 12 months, no reaction whatsoever. It was the only one she got that day (we still haven't done MMR).

Re: Chicken pox vaccine
DS was supposed to get the chicken pox with the MMR at his 18 month visit - I skipped the MMR and he got the chicken pox only and he had no reaction.

Chicken pox vaccine
My doc gives it at the 15 month visit with the MMR, but I didn't want her getting all of those in one shot. She was also getting the flu shot. So we agreed on MMR and flu at 15 months and then she got the chicken pox vaccine around 16.5 months.

Re: Chicken pox vaccine
DD got chicken pox and MMR at the same time. 15 month visit. I was a bit concerned about having them both at once and considered splitting them up But after speaking to my ped he put my mind at ease and I had him give her both on that same visit. She was fine by the way...

Chicken pox vaccine
14m by itself. I refuse to allow major shots to be stacked.
She got it again at 4yrs by itself. She'll get the MMR in January (she had that one done at 1yr as well)
The shot area says red and swollen for over a week. She then will say it itches and it hurts for the whole time along with another week its hard in that area. Generally takes weeks for the area to get back to normal.
At 4yrs she had no other adverse reaction. But I stress again, I do not stack shots. Its not JUST the MMR that bothers me (nor is it in anyway special to me), its the mass dosing of our children that sets me off. So I choose to space them out instead. 6w-8w waits in between. Means I have a shot record both at home and work that is constantly updated by ME then verified everytime I walk in. I have given her hte Prevnar 13 to 'catch up' and I am pretty good about declining all shots that dont fit into the schedule.
According to the doc after two years of age they are less strict about the shots. That has been the case until this last call when the nurse told me I was 'late' several times and implied it was my 'fault' she was having to come in. Pfft. Gimme a break, you get paid in full for my visit as its uninsured and CDC says I'm right within the range.
