Chicco carseat???

I have the Chicco travel system and i'm starting to hate it!! Rylan's back is drenched everytime I take him out of the carseat. Even with the air conditioning on his shirt is still soaked. I feel so bad for him!! I think it's the material.

Does anyone else have this problem with this carseat? Or any suggestions on what I can do?

Re: Chicco carseat???

I am so happy someone posted about this!! My DD is 6 wks and everytime we have taken her out, she sweats and screams bloody murder randomly throughout the drive. We actually have stopped to hold her and calm her down.

I am thinking of taking the back infant padding support out and using these neck support pads I bought at BRU last week.

I'll try this and if all else fails, I might get have to get a new carseat! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I already took out the infant padding...it's only used up to 11lbs. I don't know what to do. I have the box and receipt still...i'm thinking about returning it. Rylan screams the whole time too...I can't see torturing him like that.

I would love suggestions too. But I don't think it is just the Chicco. We have the Peg Perrego and this weekend we were visiting friends and used their Graco and it happens with both of them!

I don't think it has anything to do with being chubby...I think it's the material.

I was gong to say the same thing. I had the peg perego for both my kids and I had the same problem. DS is an April baby and DD is a July baby. I would lightly dress them and then put a receiving blanket on their legs when in the car for the ac.

Re: Chicco carseat???

Zach sweats his tail off in this as well. I never thought about the material. I just assumed it was like that with all of them. Interesting....

Re: Chicco carseat???

I used the Chicco with my DD and the same thing happened... However now I use a Graco with my DS and the same thing happens. I don't think it's just the Chicco seat. IMO I would not return it. It's a very well made and safe car seat.

I was thinking the same thing about the padding. I went on BRU website to see customer reviews and info and most of the Chicco travel systems aren't on anymore. I also didn't see them in the store the other day. Hmmmmmmm.... I am going to call BRU later to see what the deal is!

Recently, yes. It was fine for DS since he was born (December), but now that it's getting hot, he is sweaty often when I take him out. We need to get a convertible carseat soon though, so the timing worked for us.

I am going to try and take the padding out today and see if that helps. I don't think it serves any purpose except comfort.

I have the Peg Perego too and Athan is drenched every single time. It has to be the material. It's awful.

Re: Chicco carseat???

I just got off the phone with BRU and Chicco's. They told me that it is policy that if there is a recall - which there was on certain Chicco infant car seats, they pull the product from the shelves, so that is why you won't see the travel system on-line or in the store for a couple of weeks.

As for the infant padding, the customer service rep at Chicco's, who was very nice and helpful, said that it should be removed when you DC hits 11lbs. - that it is mostly for newborns. I asked about the sweating and she said that one thing could be the amount of padding for safety in the seat.

I quess I will remove and see what happens!!

Huh, I haven't seen anything about a recall with their carseats--I should check in and make sure ours isn't one!

Wow, I should have taken the padding out a long time ago. I didn't realize that! Thanks for checking and posting the information!

I didn't have the Chicco but DD had that same issue last summer with the graco snugride. I think the plastic just gets too hot.

Re: Chicco carseat???

We are going through the SAME thing with our Chicco. There is a big wet mark when I take her out and she's drenched. I am guessing it's with any carseat. I took out the insert when she hit 11 lb. so that doesn't make a difference. It's frustrating. My other gripe with that carseat is that the canopy isn't big enough. AND I found the piping on the edge separating from the fabric the other day. Chat Icon
