cherry eye

my yorkie needs to have surgery to remove his cherry eye and i'm so scared. Chat Icon

has anyone had this done to their dog?

they tested his tear production and said he wont have any problems producing tears after it's removed but i'm still concerned about it. we can get the surgery to have the lid put back into place but there's a chance it can come back and he'd have to have another surgery to correct it which i dont want to put him through. i guess i'm looking for some comfort from anyone who's had the surgery done to their pet.

Re: cherry eye

I had a springer that had cherry eyes that had replacement surgery. They didn't actually remove it, the pushed it back down where it was supposed to sit. It is a different surgery but if you would like more information feel free to FM me.

Actually Romulus had to have it done twice in one eye as well. But after that he never had a problem again.

Re: cherry eye

I have a bulldog and he had cherry eye. We went to Long island Veterinary Specialists (LIVS) off of the LIE. They did not remove it, they just tacked it down. He had the surgery over 5 years ago and it has not had any problems. The doctor that did it was great1 if you need more info just fm me.
