I know a lot of people love it but I did not like the Wilderness Lodge but it was only because of the noise from the Whisering Canyon Cafe inside the resort. All day long all you could here is the wait staff screaming "I need Ketchup". Its part of a game they play with the guests but after a few days of that it gets to be a bit much.

Re: Cheapest time to do Disney?
We went early September and I thought we got good rates. We stayed at Port of Orleans Riverside (Princess room) and loved it. I do have to agree about Wilderness crowd, we went to that restuarant and it was so noisy that I felt bad for the guest staying there.

Must depend on where you are, we didn't hear a peep at all. We had a Courtyard view room though, on the 4th or 5th floor (I forget). LOVE the Wilderness Lodge.
We are staying at the Yacht Club, that's my second favorite. I got an amazing deal on Orbitz for the week of the 4th, and we are doing the Girl Scout discount tickets so we saved almost $400 on our park tickets.

Re: Cheapest time to do Disney?
Cheapest times of year are Mid August - End of September and January and February, excluding holiday weeks. November also has good prices and deals and lower crowds. That link to the price seasons is a good idea for the hotel BUT it doesn't take into account discounts at all. So actually Value season ends up being cheaper than what's listed there with up to 35% off the hotel or Free Dining, and the Peak and Holiday seasons don't have as steep discounts.
For moderate resorts I really like Port Orleans. French Quarter is my preference since it is smaller, quieter and has kind of a romantic feel, but it is often harder to get discounts there. Riverside is larger and has the beautiful Royal Rooms which feature touches from Princesses and different characters. I like PO so much better than the other moderates that I would always choose to stay there and wouldn't personally venture to the others unless it was for a discount.
If you're open to Deluxe Resorts there's something absolutely awesome about all of them. It's iffy due to the construction now, but the Poly is to die for. Wilderness Lodge is one I recommend a lot because it's a Deluxe but at a lower price point. It's also absolutely beautiful.
