cheap extra crib for grandma's house
We were living with my mom and dad for DS's first part of his life. We finally moved into our new house and I think my poor mom is having "empty nest" all over again. My mom insists on buying DS a crib for her house. He is her first grandchild, there will definitely be more so it will get some use. It will not get used on a regular basis so she wants to get something inexpensive but safe. I know that Target, Walmart, BRU, BBB, Walmart, KMart and Ikea all carry cheap cribs. Is there a "best" of the inexpensive brands? My Baby Bargains book is packed away so any help would be greatly appreciated. We'll be staying at my mom's next week while our floors get redone and she insists on having it by then. Thanks

My parents have the sundvik crib from Ikea. I like it. Here is the link:

Yep - the Ikea crib is the best of the "cheap" cribs.
We just use a pack n play at my Mom's house. He sleeps great in there, even for overnights.

THere is a rib at Walmart that is rated well and costs about $100. I'll see if I can find it.

Re: cheap extra crib for grandma's house
We needed a crib for my parents' house and bought a crib at BBB for about $200 and it's actually beautiful. It turns out that they were getting rid of that model and had 3 left to sell. The mattress wound up costing more than the crib. I think the crib is a Bonavita but i'm not sure. Ooh, and we were able to use a 20% coupon
Try going to BBB, you never know.
