Cheap Caribbean Vaca

Ok.. so i am planning a trip with about 6 friends for sometime in 2012.... some of my friends have requested that the trip be as cheap as possible!

Ive been to a few islands...

Aruba = NOT cheap
DR = Cheap...

any other ideas for cheap islands? or even central america?

St. Kitts and Nevis?
Venezuela, Margarita Island?
Costa Rica?
Grenada?

Jamaica wasn't bad- not as cheap as DR, but not as expensive as Aruba.

I was going to suggest Jamaica as well. Particularly the Couples Resorts. Best vacation we had.

Re: Cheap Caribbean Vaca

Would you guys be down for a cruise leaving from NY? We've done the one from NY to Bermuda (3 days in Bermuda) a few times since we liked it so much.

The alcohol bill adds up quick when you aren't shelling actual cash out. I think an all inclusive resort would be the way to go.

I was in Runaway Bay in Jamaica we stayed at Gran Bahia Principle. I advise you stay far away from this resort. My grandmother's jewelry was stolen out of my room and the hotel refuses to take any responsibility for it. The police offer who took my statement told me that there had been a number of robberies at the resort.

The food was beyond horrid and if you didnt ask for alcohol to be added to your drink @ the bar, they wouldn't add it. The outdoor pool bar smelt like vomit and finally there was an infestation of sand lice in the rooms.

The place was a nightmare!

There's really good value in Mexico. Check out Rivera Maya - it's on the east coast so the flight is shorter (and cheaper) but far enough away from cancun that it won't feel like spring break. Tons of AI's over there too. We stayed at Secrets Capri and had a blast!

Grenada and St Kitts def won't be cheap. You can get a very reasonable hotel in Costa Rica but flights can be $$$ and it is not uncommon to then have to take a second baby plane to an airstrip near your hotel. If you can nab a $300 flight, grab it!

Re: Cheap Caribbean Vaca

How about Cabo or even Key West? I know you said carribean but for a group of guys, that would be alot of fun! TONS of bars!

DR is probably your best bet.. for guys, I would look into the bavaro resorts.. great food/packages/service and it's CHEAP for all inclusive.. nothing better than eating and drinking all you want without having to go reaching for your pocket!

There was also a Costa Rica deal on Living social I think? like 3 or 4 nights for 640? not sure how many people it sleeps though

SERIOUSLY!!!! I felt really bad b/c we were there for a wedding. The bride tried really hard to keep it low cost so a lot of ppl could attend, but as they say, "You get what you pay for".

Re: Cheap Caribbean Vaca

Mexico has loads of resorts and very reasonable.

The competition is fierce there so they are competitive.

go for a 4 star resort and you should be very happy.

Puerto Rico and Mexico are pretty cheap.

Costa Rica is a lot of fun. I don't remember it being that cheap though.

Costa rica is def lots of fun and affordable...I did not like Jamaica too much and I would stay away from Margarita Island...DR is very affordable and fun...go to puerto plata for more of a party atmosphere...mexico is also cheap but wasnt my cup of tea.

I just googled it

We had an AWESOME time! White water rafting, zip lining through moteverde rain forest... it was so much fun!!
