Charter Boat Fishing Trips

DH and I would love to surprise my dad this Christmas with fishing trip out of Montauk. Are there any websites where we could purchase a gift certificate for such a thing? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Charter Boat Fishing Trips

My brother highly recommends Montauk Fishing Charters. He has taken it twice for striped bass fishing and had THE BEST time ever! He did it in AUgust and in October. He would recommend the summer over the fall, as thef all was a little bit of rough waters, wehre the summer was smooth sailing.

Good Luck!Chat Icon

Re: Charter Boat Fishing Trips

Our company has a trip out to Montauk twice a year. We rent close to 20 boats, and have a little Striped Derby tournament. (I got 1st one year, and 2nd another year... Chat Icon ) I love it. We do spring and fall. Spring is usually better/warmer weather, but supposedly the fish are bigger in the fall, after they've been eating all summer, but I haven't seen a significant difference in average size.

Don't forget the Dramamine! Even if you "never" get seasick, if you renting a boat for a few hours, it's about $1 per pill, and it's definitely a very worthwhile piece of insurance. For "macho" guys, just take the pill without telling anyone.
