Charlotte NC Folks - Questions!

Hi,

DH and I are considering a possible move to Charlotte, NC in about 2 years. We are looking at the South Charlotte area (south of 485) in I guess what is called Area 5. (I think I got that right - Ballantyne, Providence CC areas). Is Wexford and Waddington much farther south than Ballantyne?

We already have an idea as to the home prices down there, but we're also wondering what your other bills are like (i.e. utilities, property taxes, school taxes, gas prices, etc.)

Did your homowners insurance, car insurance, etc. go down considerably compared to what you paid in NY?

Do you find everything much cheaper down there than up here i.e. activities for the kids, food prices, restaurants, birthday parties, etc.?

went spent 2 years in Ballantye. LOVE it...too pricey for us to buy in though.

Took our party down to Waxhaw, 20 minutes south.

taxes are 1200 a year. elem school is ranked #23 in the state. crime is very low.
car insurance, 8 months a year, 130 a month, covers both our cars.

to get to waxhaw from ballantyne, i drive through weddington. very nice. union county, better schools...cheaper taxes.

rea view school is excellent, that is marvin. #2 in the state.

all middle schools and high schools around here are excellent.

nc gas is at 2.75 right now...i go to sc and pay 2.48

i have only been a mom in charlotte, so not sure how to compare.

art school, one hour a week, 115.00 every 8 weeks.

catholic preschool will cost you...i think its 5000 a year.

tons of great parks. bike trails...
