Change course

So after a 3rd failed IUI, I have an appt with my RE tomorrow night to discuss options. I believe we will go the injectable route....can anyone tell me their experience and what meds are needed. I can't even give myself ovidrel....

P.S. we would go the IVF route but my ins won't cover it until I do 12 IUI's...

injectibles are really no diff than the ovidrel. I do them every other night for 4 nights and its the Gonal pen which is pretty easy to use.
You will do it in the same area (tummy) as the ovidrel and I switch sides each time.
The only side effects I have had are major bloating and constipation

Thanks for the help...pheesh between that the progesterone i'm never going to go to the bathroom again!

Ive done the injects for 2 cycles- the first cycle i was a miserable beech. the second cycle, i am just miserable, not so much a beech. maybe that's just my personality now.
otherwise, tons of bloating.

Do you have GHI by any chance?

Regarding injectibles....I did 2 IUI cycles with gonal and then trigger. I did find the first shot very intimidating, who thinks they will have to shoot themselves up?? But after the 2nd or 3rd time, you become a pro. After getting over having to give yourself a shot, it really isn't bad, and injectibles increases your chances GREATLY! Good luck!

I have GHI also and went thru the same thing. After 4 failed IUIs I nearly had a breakdown just thinking about having to do 8 more rounds. It was fairly easy for my doctor to get IVF covered after 4 IUI and I know that other women who have GHI had luck fighting them as well. I would talk to your doctor about fighting the denied claim....I am pretty sure its just simple paper work. Not sure if you are ready for that step, but I would start the paperwork now just in case. I used Gonal for the past 2 cycles and you really do get used to it. The worst part for me is getting ready to do it...it doenst hurt its just the anticipation

i did this every other night for 4 nights. Not bad...in the end it will be worth it...GL
