Chair rail/painting spinoff-- optical illusions
Anyone know if there is a "rule" when using a chair rail or wainscoting-- and choosing paint colors, what you should do to make a room look larger?
I.e. Darker paint on top, white on the bottom, etc.?

I like either darker on the bottom and lighter on top or white on bottom and light color on top. Just what I like.

I was thinking of doing white on the bottom and the color on the top-- but was curious if there were any tricks when using paint to trick the eye.
