Central Air Conditioning Questions?

I'm always confused on our Trane CAC should the fan button/option be on at all times or not? Does it make it use less or more energy?

So just on AUTO and not with the fan?

I do have it set with AUTO on COOL but I never know if I should have the FAN button on or off....to be more efficent

The Fan option is not going to cool your house. It's just going to blow around the air already in your house.

If I have fan on I always have AUTO on as well. Dh thinks it makes the AC run less but to me it seems like it uses more energy.

We have all our ceiling fans on 24-7.

So I'm just trying to figure out if I should leave the fan button on all the time on our CAC and if that raises or lowers our electric bills.

If I undersand you correctly, you always have air coming out of your vents, sometimes it's cooled by the AC and sometimes it's just a fan blowing air around. If that's what you are saying, then logic tells me that the fan is definitely using electricity. We set ours on Auto only. If we want a breeze, we put on a regular fan.

I guess Dh considers that the Fan being on is the same as a ceiling fan and uses less then if the whole system got warm and needed to kick on again but I tend to agree with your logic as well, I guess I was just hoping someone could explain if your supposed to be using FAN and AUTO at the same time really or if its best to use them seperate.. etc. We live in Florida and I never had CAC before and since I'm home most days I've just been trying to figure out which is the best settings for keeping our house cool as well as being the most efficent.
I guess its a bit hard to explain what I'm totally getting at.

I appreciate both your answers, thanks
