Yup, last night was the Finale.
There was a thread going, I'll try to find it for you. There are spoilers in it so only read it after you watched, but I will say he doesn't make his choice until the very last minute (literally).

it was also at the very very end - Trump really dragged it out. Perhaps because it was live it actually went a little over the time and your dvr cut it off? (that's happened to me with Idol)
