Cat's Teeth
So, we took Espresso to the vet last week and he is in good shape but the vet recommended getting his teeth cleaned as there is a lot of tartar on the back teeth especially. When I asked about pricing for teeth cleaning, I was told it starts at $250 !!! We cannot afford that and now I'm wondering if there's anything I can do at home to clean his teeth or if I should just not worry about it... He's 6 years old and is on a prescription diet of wet food only...

Holy hat!!! That's insane!
Are there any hard treats you can give him since he only eats soft food?

Re: Cat's Teeth
Greenies help prevent tarter. They do work but I'm not sure if they would if he already has a lot of buildup.
Would they vet be willing to do a payment plan for you?

Re: Cat's Teeth
Personally I think cleaning a cat's teeth is ridiculous and just a way for the vet to make money. Sorry but I do. Think about animals in the wild...do they have their teeth professionally cleaned? No. And they are fine.
I have had cats all my life- and never had their teeth cleaned- they were all fine.
So he has some tartar- so what? I doubt it will affect him.
I love my cats more than anything- truly I do- and I would do anything for their health. But this teeth cleaning business just seems a bit crazy IMO.

Re: Cat's Teeth
its the wet food that causes it deff. try hard, crunchy treats, that should help with some on the tartar!!
