Cats and vomit

Back story--- I had to rush my cat to the emergency animal hospital almost 5-6 years ago because she had vomited 18 times and the last 2 were blood. The doc did a whole work up on her. The x-rays showed spots all over every organ. He told me that she had cancer and would be dead within weeks. He suggested that I put her down immediately. This was DH's cat before I even met him I wasn't prepared to make that decision so I told him I had to take her home. He suggested taking her to the animal hospital in Plainview. My DH took off from work and took her then next day. They wanted to open her up and biopsy every organ. My DH said she is 8lbs and I am not putting her through that or chemo. He said we will take her home and make her comfy and put her down when she gets sick. I prayed and cried for several weeks.

Fast forward a year and 1 1/2 later. We have an almost identical episode. I come home from work and DH had taken off from work for my first OBGYN appointment. He said the cat has been vomiting all day etc. I look at the cat and she is sitting on the chair and meows this meow that was so desperate. We take her back to the animal hospital and we see the same vet. He looks like he has seen a ghost when he realizes it's the same cat. I brought her old x-rays with me and he does new ones. The spots are all still there nothing has changed.

Now the cat is still alive and healthy other this vomiting habit.

She is a vomiter. I have gotten used to it. But I can't get used to her vomiting on my carpets. I can't stand that. It is hard to get out and it makes me sick that she is ruining every carpet that we own (hence the reason we don't have many carpets in the house)

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to train her to vomit only on the wood floor??


Sorry for the length but I thought I should put all her other issues in there so people know it's just her and not anything else

Wow, it sounds like this cat is a mircale survivor!

As for the vomit, I don't think there is a way to train her to do it in a certain area. When she has to do it, she is going to do it whereever she is. Have you tried one of those spot bot things immediately after she does it (or you see it?)

My cat is a puker. If i catch her retching I'll try to redirect her to a non-carpeted area but otherwise I don't think there's anything I can do.

I use some pet stain remover carpet cleaning stuff from the supermarket which works pretty well.

I have a puker also!
I just user resolve to clean the carpets.

In my old house my Cat used to stand on the vinyl flooring and puke towards the carpet!

I have tried most stain stuff including resolve, a stain machine and other stuff and I just can't seem to get it all out. Her vomit always has a brownish hue to it that if I am not there the moment she vomits (like when I am at work) it just seems to seep into every carpet. The only thing I every found that was really great was stain extinguisher and I can't find it anymore. I don't get it though. She seems to know not to puke in my daughter's room, the nursery or the play room, however she doesn't make an effort to leave any other room that she feels the need to vomit in.
