cat naps, can't take it anymore!!!

my ds has a wierd napping schedule he naps in the morning about 2 hours after waking up, he only naps for 1/2 hour -45 min (if i am lucky), then after lunch he naps for about a half hour tops. He goes to bed around 8-8:30 and sleeps anywere from 7:30-9. He is not cranky when he is awake, he is wide eyed ready to play, it sucks for me cause i have to entertain him, and feel like i can't do anything around the house, its even hard for me to eat breakfast or take a shower/

....is this little sleep normal??. I heard that most brain development happens when they nap. sigh, rign now he woke up after sleeping maybe half an hour, he won't want to go down for another....

Oh holy crap!! I used to post things like this all the time!!!!!!!!!! (Now DS is older, so it doesn't happen) I work overnights and his 20 minute naps didn't help me at all!!!!!!!!! There were many posts on here where I was ready to start killing off people from lack of sleep. And if it was my day off I felt like I could accomplish NOTHING!!!!!

Don't worry about brain development. Your DS is getting plenty of rest at night.

It gets MUCH better, trust me. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: cat naps, can't take it anymore!!!

how old is ds?

My son used to cat nap all the time. He was an excellent napper in the beginning and then when he hit 3 or 4 months... it was 30-45 minute naps. This lasted until he was 6 1/2 months old. Now at 7 months, he takes at least an hour nap to hour and a half- 3 times a day.

No real advice for you because we tried everything and nothing changed the length of his nap.

But hang in there. It will change. Chat Icon

I could have written EXACTLY that post!

Unfortunately for us at 7 1/2 months not much has changed yetChat Icon Sometimes, once every few weeks he surprises me with a long nap. Plus at the sitter, he will usuually once a week give her 1 1/2 hours 1 of 3 days.

No rhyme or reason!

But I keep hoping!
