Cashing Italian Checks?
Anyone know where I can go to cash Italian checks? My bank doesn't do it and I don't want to open up an account at another bank just to cash them - but I think that may be my only option.
TIA!

Re: Cashing Italian Checks?
find out if the issuing bank has a branch here (you may be surprised)
I find it odd that your bank won't allow you to deposit it though?

Re: Cashing Italian Checks?
You can usually do them at any bank...but off the top of my head, Chase & Citibank (major branches in NYC) will do them since they carry muti-currencies.

LOL. That is my personal bank too! Doesn't surprise me since they have yet to change my name on my account since I've been married almost 2 years. They have my marriage cert. on file and were cashing my checks until this week. Suddenly it became an issue. I bet if you went to another branch, they would cash those checks. They all have their own rules

I bank with Wachovia. They will accept deposits of foreign currencies at almost any location... At least, that is what we did when we came back with more Euros than we planned.
You can also just exchange them. Most banks have currency exchange services at select locations...

Re: Cashing Italian Checks?
HMMM???? i got a lot of Euro checks for my wedding and I desposited them no problem at my bank.; I use Citibank... they just deposited what it's worth once they figure out the exchange....
So for example, say its 100 Euro, sayapproximately $70.00 was put in my account.
Don't see why this should be a problem???
