carpet ? - really a tackless ?

we had new carpet installed in our bedroom and my DS's bedroom

the carpet goes into the closet - i know the tackless goes on the outside of the room, near the walls to keep the carpet down.

but everytime i walk into any of the closets i feel the tackless on my feet - they must of put a strip of tackless across the front of the closet. it really hurts every time i step on it.

is this normal???

does the pading also cover the tackless???

Re: carpet ? - really a tackless ?

The padding doesn't cover the tackless strip. If it did, it wouldn't hold the carpet, just the padding, and that would just get torn apart, since its not very strong that way.

It definitely sounds like they put a strip at the closet entrance, although I'm not sure why you would put a strip where people walk...

None of our bedrooms have tack strips in front of the closet.

Ours do not have it either and I really don't think they should be there. My dad was in the carpet and rug business his whole life and I can ask him when I speak to him this week. He's my go to guy on carpet and rugs!
