We have an suv too and even though our windows are tinted it still didn't block all the sun. At first, we had a munchkin shade, it suction cupped on to the window but sometimes out of no where the suction would fail and it would fall right on ds so we got the Brica shade. It's the only one we could find that had clips at the top that go over the window. Like, you roll down the window, clip it then roll the window back up and it sticks for good.

Re: car window shades
I went to target and got Eddie Bauer cling shades. It comes in a 2 pack and clings right to the window.
You have to watch b/c some are not crash approved and can fly off in an accident or as the pp said at anytime causing harm.
The cling ones do the job. I have to smooth them out every now and again but I think they are fine and do the job. They all say cars tested on them.

Re: car window shades
Cling shades are the only ones that are considered "safe"
Those roll up ones? They can become a projectile in a crash. Like a missile.

Re: car window shades
tarabelle beat me to the answer - but she is correct.
Sunshades break off in crashes and can strike a car occupant. Cling shades are the only suggested type to use.
The projectile concerns are also extended to the use of mirrors. Unless a medical need, it is best not to use mirrors for rear-facing children.

Re: car window shades
i have the cling on shades but had to take them off because anytime i rolled down the back window for them to get some air it would get caught and ruin it. does it have to be on the outside?

Re: car window shades
I got a new SUV late last year and bought it with sun shades for the rear windows. Is this an option with the SUV you are getting? It's really convenient and nice having it as one unit.
