Car seat problem
My 11 week old son HATES the car seat. This has been going on for several weeks. He screams bloody murder when we put him in. We thought he was getting too hot in it so we contacted Graco and they sent us a liner made of different material. That did not solve the problem. It is hard to drive with one hand and rock the car seat with the other. Any suggestions?

Many babies do not like the car.
You should NOT be rocking the car seat ESPECIALLY while driving!!!
The car seat shouldnt even be able to be rocked.

Re: Car seat problem
My 8 week old hates the carseat! She screams as soon as I put her in the seat. We also have a graco seat but I don't think it's the seat because my other dd was in this seat and she loved the car. At this point I know it's something she will eventually outgrow at least I hope because I don't know of any other solutions.

Re: Car seat problem
I'd say its somewhat common. I know it's tough to hear him cry but he's going to be in a carseat for a looooong time.

Re: Car seat problem
My son went through this from weeks 10-15. Now at 5.5 months he generally likes it.

open the window a crack so it makes that annoying sound. Someone recommended it after reading it created a white noise effect. worked wonders!

This.
I would have it checked that it is installed correctly. If the angle is wrong that might be making him uncomfortable.
Hopefully this phase passes quickly for you!!

Car seat problem
My DD hated the infant carrier as well. She would cry all the time and I was always pulling over to check if something was wrong. I would get such anxiety when I had to drive somewhere. But just like everyone else posted, it is just phase. She got over it. I would just put the music up a little ( as suggested by fellow LIF parents.)

Re: Car seat problem
Did you take out the extra padding? The infant pillow thing. Are the straps not high enough? Maybe they are cutting into his shoulders?
Dd is 2 and still hated the carseat. Omg she was horrible before ff. she would cry for hours on long car rides. We ff her and she got better but then we got the iPad hooked up for her and now she's much better but till struggles to get out.
I wish I could have more advice but I don't.
Some people switch to the convertible carseats rf of course. Most are for 5 lbs and up. It would be annoying with an infant but maybe that would be better?

Re: Car seat problem
DD went through that phase. As mentioned, the car seat should not be able to be rocked. The seat itself shouldn't move once it is snapped in, and the base shouldn't wiggle more than an inch in any direction.
Try music or even singing loudly, he should grow out of it soon though

Re: Car seat problem
I've taken out the extra padding, even though he is a small baby. I've added pads to the straps because i thought they were digging into him. We even put a rolled up blanket behind his head to push him up a bit, which worked for a couple of days. He cries before we even buckle the straps. ( I thought it was the straps too.) I'm just worried that if I keep taking him out when he screams that he is going to associate the two and I will never get him back into the seat because he will just assume that mommy will take him out if he cries. Am I creating a monster?

Car seat problem
You shouldn't add strap covers that didn't come with the seat, they can interfere with the proper alignment of the straps in a crash. Same goes for the blanket behind his head, if his neck is too far forward it could inhibit his air flow which obviously you don't want. As far as creating a monster, I wouldn't keep him in the seat any longer then he has to be, but I wouldn't purposefully pull over or stop somewhere just to take him out and soothe him. Unfortunately, as hard as it may be to drive, you have to, and he will hopefully learn to deal with it. Get a kids cd and play it and sing/talk to him, if he has a blanket or lovey make sure he has it, try to put him in the car tired maybe then he will fall asleep??
Again, i hope this is a quick phase and he grows out of it soon!!

Some babies just hate the car... Maybe switch to a convertible seat... It may help.
