car seat for 4 yr old
I've been out of the car seat game for a while, but I noticed that DD has reached the top of the car seat. We have the Britax Roundabout 50.
I forgot - when do you get a new car seat? When they max out the height, or weight, or both. She is 37 lb.
Also, what car seat would you recommend at this point?

It can no longer be used once either height or weight are maxed out, whichever comes first.

I believe its when their EARS are at the top. I got AJ a new one at 5 only because she'd been in a convertible until then. Now she's I a booster type instead.
Btw, AJ is 6 nearly 7 and still only 38lbs. Her convertible went up to 70lbs.

Re: car seat for 4 yr old
Do you know your dd height? She may have already outgrown the roundabout. If she has outgrown the height of the seat it's unsafe to use. You will want to look into a 5 point harness seat. These seats can eventually turn into booster seats to be used with a seatbelt instead of a harness when the child is older. Some good seats are
Britax frontier Graco nautilus or Argos Evenflo secure kid

Re: car seat for 4 yr old
I just bought the Britax Frontier for my almost 4 year old I have the Graco Natulis for my 6 year old and it's SUCH a PITA to get in/out of the car and click in place - and the 5 pt harness was uesless by the time he was 5 b/c it was just too short in the crotch area.
The Britax's 5pt is up to 90 lbs and looks to accomodate a much taller child, and the booster is up to 120 lbs.
The thing weighs a TON - but it's SO easy to install and take out when you need to it's worth it IMO

We have the Nautilus and actually really like it. Not sure if you know, but the buckle that goes between their legs is adjustable as well. We didn't know this at first, and for the first few days I was complaining about this exact issue until we figured out how to adjust it and we don't have a problem now. (I have a very tall 4 year old)
