Capital one
I have been paying my capital one online. Since I have been doing this they decided to STOP sending me paper statements! I just got my statement in the mail and was charged 35.00 bucks past due fee call them and they tell me Yup paper statements were fixed. So ask if the 35.00 can be waived and they said No It's not my fault (well I guess it is but never got my statement)

Re: Capital one
That happened to me with Macy's. In small print...or too much print that I didn't care to read...it says if you sign up for online billing they stop giving statements. I'm NOTHING without those paper statements! I can't believe they wouldn't waive the fee though... Most cc companies will at least waive a fee once.

Re: Capital one
If you were paying this on line then why would you be charged a past due fee?
You should have been able to view your statements on line as well even though you didnt have paper statements.
I would call back and ask to speak to a supervisor because if you were paying this on time and on line then a past due balance should not be applicable.

OH don't even get me started with Macy's! Same thing happened. I must have called them at least 4 times to get paper statements but everytime the waived the fee for me. It was just principal you know....

Because honestly, As soon as I get my paper statements I write it down on my calander. I don't check the statements online. I only goto the websites to pay the bill

Re: Capital one
Could you maybe speak with a supervisor? Most cc companies will waive it as a one time courtesy. I would explain to the supervisor that you were not aware of this policy and if they could waive the fee this one time. Capital One is definitely NOT a favorite company of mine. I used to have them and had nothing but headaches...not sure how long you've had them, but watch out for the annual fee they surprise you with after a few years . Once they started doing that I paid them off and closed the account

It's pretty new. I was thinking about the suprevisor thing but I have such a headache (see teenage driving thread ) I had no energy. I am annoyed they stopped sending them though... They sure sent me the letter that I "missed" the payment with no problem.

They always say..."if you are not sure if anyone cares if you are dead or alive, miss a credit card payment and see how fast people care"
I was a good payer w/ my capital one card, so it's not that I missed any payments. I had the card for I think 3 years and all of a sudden I get a bill w/ an annual fee on it. The same thing happened to DH. He got his after mine and I told him they charge annual fees, he insisted that he did not have one...and he was right...until a few years later he got charged with an annual fee too (this past year)...and he always made his payments on time.
ETA: Nothing like a near-death experience w/ a new driver to get the blood flowin' huh?
