Re: Cape may
Nwe just booked La Mer. Also heard good things about The Grand. Not sure ages of your kids, but at La Mer kids 5 & under stay free. Prices of both were comparable. La Mer haschairs, towels & umbrellas available for registered guests. I liked that.

That depends if you want closer to the beach, town, or.both. The Grand has an indoor pool as well as activities for kids. It is definitely not a fancy place though. It is not walking distance to town like Congress Hall or The Victorian.

Re: Cape may
We stay at Congress Hall...not cheap but well worth it! They set you up with chairs and umbrellas on the beach so you don't need to lug stuff with you. The pool is a decent size and the service is great! We usually go mid July for 3 or 4 nights as an in between getaway before we hit Hilton Head for 2 weeks in August! This will be our 3rd summer going and we also go a weekend in December when they have the Christmas parade and breakfast with Santa!

I haven't been to Cape May during the holidays in age as! Where does the parade/breakfast take place? Would love to go next holiday season.

The breakfast with Santa is at Congress Hall. The parade starts at one end of Cape May and literally goes past Congress Hall...the parade is HOURS long and I'm not exaggerating. I loved the way CH was set up for Christmas. We were there for the tree lighting and they had a Christmas village set up outside and the kids got to ride on the Santa a Express..the congress hall train! It was really cute! Over the summer they also have a carnival during the week with a carousel and train along with games, cotton candy, face painting...awesome hotel!

Re: Cape may
love cape may! we stayed at the grand last june only b/c it had big enough suites to fit my family and parents (2 bedroom with kitchenette) but the hotel itself is pretty run-down and what kinda grossed me out was that the toilet had no cover only a seat.
i've heard great things about congress hall and the hotel that has althea's-inn of cape may.
