Cape Cod

Ferry or not?

Should I drive up or take the Ferry out of Orient Point?

I live in Bethpage.

Does it really save that much time?

It's going to be $140.

Re: Cape Cod

We always take the ferry. It's just easier for us and we like to relax on the ferry. Once we get off the ferry, it's only about 2 and a half hours to the cape so it really breaks up the trip.

Re: Cape Cod

Where do you live? It's an hour and a half at the least for us to get to the Ferry.

We take the ferry, coming from same location as you. We have spent hours in traffic on 1-95 going through CT and it is not worth it for us. In the beginning of July my sister missed the last ferry and drove. It took her 8 hours because of traffic delays. She left the Cape at 6pm and and got home at 2am! The ferry is such a nice drive to Orient, and then such an easy ride to the Cape from New London. Great way to begin and end your vacation and worth the $ to us.

Re: Cape Cod

We leave tomorrow. I thought Saturday wasn't a bad day to go with traffice. We come back Friday. Now I really think we should do that for sure.

Re: Cape Cod

We live in mid Suffolk...it's exactly 55 minutes (without traffic) to the ferry from us. I agree with PP that traffic in CT can be horrendous!

My dad is from CT and they never would come to LI b/c of traffic. they are now saying that CT traffic is worse than LI traffic.

Re: Cape Cod

We drove straight there and took the ferry back.

With the ferry ride and driving home it was longer.
