Can't Sleep...

Ok so I am always a terrible sleeper. But lately I feel like its been pretty bad. Last night I think I woke up every two hours...that is usually what i do.

I am so exhausted I fall asleep at 9 PM, then wake up at 1, then 3 , the 5 then eventually for good at 6.

I know its stress, and I work out at least three times a week. It also does not help that my dog sleeps in my bed. I am trying to get him to sleep in his own bed but its not working...

Do you guys have any suggestions? I am open to anything, TIA!

Ambien. Really it helps. It's not habot forming and I wake up feeling great- not at all groggy.

Sleep in a cool room.

Just read this somewhere, but I've done it for ages. Make a list. Think of books/movies/ songs anything that start with A then B then C etc

Hope something helps. I've been there on and off since I was a teenager and it's not easy Chat Icon

Re: Can't Sleep...

I have problems sleeping fairly frequently. I sometimes take Tylenol PM or a lunestra to help me stay asleep. And I'll try going to bed at around the same time even if I am really tired.

I like to sleep with the TV on but I usually put on a movie I have seen before because I don't need to watch it to know what happens. It kind of lulls me to sleep.

I read that playing on the computer keeps your mind active and prevents you from getting to sleep.

Plus there's the no caffeine in the evening rule, exercise earlier in the day, etc.

Would reading in bed for a few minutes help you get to sleep?

Good luck! I know how much it stinks. Chat Icon

Dh and I both had trouble sleeping and so we opened the bedroom windows. What a difference. I honestly think we were too warm and didn't know it. I always like to read before bed if think I might have trouble sleeping. Or something like knitting.

The dog makes a big difference. I was having sleep issues and I realized that it was my cat moving around that kept waking me up, we locked her out of the room for a couple of nights and I slept great. Then I felt bad and had to let her back in, it was a tough choice, but her comfort won out over my peaceful sleep Chat Icon.

Re: Can't Sleep...

Thanks girls...

I have tried reading. But I usually get a couple sentences and stop.

I do sleep with the TV on too , that could be the issue.

I am going to try every night one of your suggestions. I will try reading tonight, I have been at the same spot of Eat Pray Love for weeks.

I don't want to stop the computer because this is teh only time I can check LIF!

I know I am not strong enough to kick him out yet. Look at my pic to the left, how could you kick that face out of your bed?

Open a window and turn the TV off.
I sleep well in a dark, quiet room.
Now that the nice weather is here, I leave the window open a crack.
