Canister vacuum people, help!

So I bought a Miele canister vacuum yesterday and now I'm freaking out. I've always been an upright girl, but took the plunge with the canister because they are better for hardwoods, which is what I have throughout the house, and much lighter to lug up and down my stairs. But it just seems so cumbersome to use and now I am wondering if I made a mistake.

Will I get used to this thing or will I always wish I bought an upright?

I love my miele. Give it some time. It definately is a drastic change for you, but a canister is so versatile

Totally agree. Also I have a Kenmore Canister and I would never go back to an upright.

I threw my upright out bc it was so huge and annoying, I didn't feel like it was cleaning properly either. I bought the electrolux oxygen one and I LOVE it! you wil get used to the cannister following you around. I just feel that bagged vaccumes are 10 times better than no bag uprights

My parents always had canister vacuums. I prefer them to an upright. We have an upright though but next one we get will be a canister.

Me too so I comprimised and bought the Oreck upright but it came with a small canister vac. I love the canister vac, it is light and great for cleaning moldings, etc... So much easier then dealing with the attachments on an upright.

We have an upright and a canister - both Oreck. I like my canister for the stairs but other than that I use my upright. I think I don't mind, though, because my upright is SO light and easy to use.

Re: Canister vacuum people, help!

I also have a canister (simplicity) bc (save for our basement) the house is all wood. I love the way it sucks everything up...I loathe everything else about it. I feel like I'm dragging a dead body behind me every time I turn a corner or go around a sofa or bed. It's been 4 years and I still can't get used to it.

That said I wouldn't trade it for an upright bc of our flooring situation...
