Canal Street - Handbags
My mom wants me to take her to Canal street to get a faux handbag. Where do I go? Cross streets? Names of places? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You could just walk down there and walk around slowly....sooner or later someone will ask you if you are looking for bags. You will walk into a building down a hall and up some stairs to a secret room that has tons of bags.

 This is sooooo true! Don't get the ones that are out for show in stores. Wait until you hear someone ask you. That's where the "real" fake ones are

I bought black microfiber totebags for my bridal party on Canal Street. I bought them plain. A lady told me that she could make them each Prada or Kate spade for either $5 or $10 more per bag. I declined. The$ 5-10 per bag didnt really bother me, but I think my family and friends knew darn well that I couldn't afford to buy 5 fake Prada or Kate Spade bags at the same time. I would have felt like an a$$ giving fakes to them.

There used to be a place on Mulberry and Canal... I think it is the second shop on the east side of mulberry north of canal. The store has wood panels...
It looks like a generic handbag store, but there is a secret room in the back. If you see women standing towards the back of the store, ask if you can go in the back. They used to have amazing things, but they got raided a few years ago and have been hit and miss...

I totally agree! The ones on the street aren't that great. But if you go upstairs in a building it is like a gold mine. Lots of good bags! It's so much fun!!!!

Thanks for all your posts on this. I am so glad I got some information first before I followed these people into these secret rooms. Mom had a great time, she got three handbags and a wallet. I even got myself a small one even though it's not really my thing. Thanks again LIF!

I was just in Manhattan 2 weeks ago and It was somewhere on Broadway, that's exactly what happened to us! We went up these stairs, about 5 flights!!  and OMG there was SOOO MANY there, from Prada,Gucci,Louie and Coach and the list goes on & on ! I got a Louie V and that was $30!! and the matching wallet for 10$ SOOO they were so secretive about it though
