Re: Can you use sunblock on a 5 month old?

All the baby books I have been reading say sunblock is for children 6 months and older. Before that, they recommend keeping them out of direct sunlight or covered up.

I would apply it if you are taking the baby out in direct sunlight. Better to have a protected baby rather than a sunburned one. I think 5 months/6 months....no big difference.

Our ped told us not to use it until she was 6 months. I never really asked why though.

I used it on Cailen when we went camping at almost 4 mts old - he was fine - it was in July - there was no way I was going to let him get burnt....

ETA - our ped said it would be fine - better than the alternative - not using it and having him burn...
