Can you take too much of the glucose drink?

Hi, this is me freaking out.
I was literally taking my last sip of the drink when the dr. office called to change my appt (no fault of their own). this is the 4th time it was changed. It got pushed back an hour. So an hour after I took the first half of the bottle, I'll take the second. Will that mess up the test? I'm going to TRY not to eat, but I will HAVE to drink some water, since I"ll have to pee at the dr. I should have asked the nurse about it, but she sounded frazzled and I was trying to maintain my composure lol I knew I was gonna fail, but I guess that I really will. Ugh.

That's pretty ridiculous that they did this... honestly, I'd go in there and make sure you're there exactly an hour after you took the first drink and have them just draw your blood then without taking the second. I think doing two rounds back to back within two hours is too much on your system and your results will reflect it. You could still pass but it's going to be a lot harder.

ETA: How big was your bottle? I was given a bottle I had to drink the entire thing.

I can't - they had septic problems so everyone's going to the other office, And I tried to keep the same time but they said they didn't think they'd be situated by then. They DID try to get me in the afternoon, but I have to work, so she pushed it back an hour.

My bottle is 10 oz, it said to drink 5 oz, half the bottle.

Re: Can you take too much of the glucose drink?

Yeah, my bottle was only 5 oz.

I'm just thinking that if you take the other half an hour after you took the first, your body will not have processed all of the first half yet. Usually resting blood sugar is under 60-80 and even really good results on the 1-hour test put you around 100-110 after drinking the stuff an hour later. So if you take the second half without dropping completely, I wonder if you'll be on a different scale.

I'm not a doctor, though, so I don't really know. This is all just from what I've read online. I might not be understanding how the body and blood sugar works. Your doctor would definitely know best.

I also figure, your body is either processing the sugar or not, and 1/4 fail the 1-hour challenge so I guess your doctor's office isn't really too worried about it being 100% accurate. It's just a screening. It would stink for you to have to go back to take the 3-hour though just because they made you drink the whole thing two hours back to back and then took your blood sugar level.

Re: Can you take too much of the glucose drink?

Thank you, I appreciate the advice and help.

What you are saying makes sense. I really don't think they remember that I was taking the test today. Some of the front desk staff seem a little flighty.

Maybe I'll just take the rest of the bottle with me, and tell them what happened. See if they have me take it or what. IDK, I'm stressing about this too much.

that's ridiculous. I have no idea if it would give you a weird result, but I would call back and let them know you've already taken it. Either that or reschedule for a different day that way you don't risk having to do the 3 hr.
