Can you get heartburn without having eaten anything?
Heartburn is totally new to me. On Wednesday night I ate Tomato Soup for dinner at like 8:30 and went to bed around 10. I think I had heartburn all night. Then, yesterday I ate pizza for lunch and again for dinner and I had heartburn. This morning I woke up and it was gone, but it seems to have returned and I am hungry.
Is it possible to get heartburn without having eaten anything yet today? This is all new to me!

I have GERD and I can get a little acid reflux without eating anything in the AM.
Drink some Milk or Water. It should help you out. Milk would be best.

not heartburn, but sometimes when I haven't eaten in several hours and I am starving, I get acid reflux.

do you have a burning sesnation in your throat? if so, that is acid reflux.
heartburn is when you have a pain in your stomach

Acid reflux is one cause of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a disease in which stomach acid or, occasionally, bile flows back (refluxes) into your food pipe (esophagus).
Because GERD may also be caused by bile reflux, the term "acid reflux disease" is more specific in describing the cause. But it doesn't describe the body part affected by the acid reflux.
Most doctors prefer "GERD" because it's a more comprehensive term. Drug companies that market and sell acid-suppressing medications, however, often prefer to use "acid reflux disease."
Hearthburn:
The primary symptom of heartburn is a burning pain in your chest, under your breastbone. This pain may worsen when you bend over, lie down or eat. It may also be more frequent or worse at night.

Do you feel almost a" lump" in your throat? That def can be a sign of reflux. And you can def have any of these symptoms if you haven't eaten in awhile.

almost - it's kind of at the top of my chest but yes it feels like i have to burp and cant

almost - it's kind of at the top of my chest but yes it feels like i have to burp and cant
Yeah def can be some sort of acid or indigestion. One easy trick: Try drinking lots and lots of water, I have found it helps.
Feel better.

ITA. You are more likely to experience pain from GERD if your stomach is completely empty.

I get heartburn from breathing. It's horrible. When I was pregnant, I wanted to die from the pain. Tums are my best friend. Feel better!

Thanks everyone! Are TUMS better than Rolaids? I bought rolaids....
I prefer Tums Smoothies (peppermint is GREAT!), but they both work fine.

I have GERD and ulcers in my esophagus-- I think it is from od'ing on Advil... If you don't have a prescription for somethng like Nexium-- get the liquid Mylanta --supreme tasting-- it works way better than the chewable stuff. Oh--Rolaids softchews work well too.

Tums, Rolaids...both are good. I like the Tropical flavored Tums. They have a permanent residence in my nightstand as I pop them in nightly!!
